Public
Sector Program |
|
|
|
Overview |
|
|
|
CHL’s work with the public sector is aimed at strengthening the
health care system through improved coordination and
collaboration between the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP)
and the State Information Services (SIS) under the Ministry of
Information. With the current family health campaign, CHL has
achieved an unprecedented level of collaboration and partnership
between the Ministry of Information, which owns the national
media, and the MOHP, which manages health service delivery
through its 4500 clinics and hospitals throughout the country.
This collaboration enables campaign messages to reach 38 million
adults monthly through the national media, representing a reach
of 70% of the adult population.
The SIS is also an engine of material production used by CHL to
produce a spectrum of health information materials for providers
and consumers, and efficiently disseminated at the community
level through a network of Local Information Centers under the
Ministry of Information plus a cadre of Health Outreach Workers
under the Ministry of Health and Population. |

Gold
Star |
|
|
|
Over the last ten years, the Egyptian MOHP population sector
established one of the largest public sector quality services
programs in the world. The certification of services according
to a set of standards and the promotion of these quality
services to the public using an easily-recognized symbol became
known as the “Gold Star” program. Countries in Asia, Latin
America and Africa have attempted to follow Egypt’s lead by
establishing similar programs.
As a leader, Egypt is facing the next great challenge of a
maturing quality improvement program: how to keep it going. CHL
is working with the MOHP to restore the commitment to achieving
quality family planning services on a national level in the near
term. With a renewed commitment, Egypt will remain a world
leader whose experience will guide others as they meet the great
challenge facing all advanced quality service programs- how to
maintain quality services. |
