Out of a population of nearly 75 million, the estimated adult
HIV prevalence rate is relatively low: less than 0.1%, according
to UNAIDS.
The government opened the first Voluntary Anonymous
Testing and Counseling Center in 2004, and innovative programs
are aimed at preventing the spread of HIV in high-risk
populations. CHL includes messages on safe injection and HIV
transmission as part of the overall family health campaign, and
has produced hundreds of thousands of copies of a question and
answer booklet on HIV aimed at youth that was distributed as a
press insert.
