Communication for Healthy Living Project

“Communication for Healthy Living” (CHL) is a USAID-funded project is aimed at enabling Egyptian families and communities to protect and maintain their health. The strategic approach of the CHL project as a whole includes advocacy, empowerment, and alliance-building to promote and facilitate greater participation by all sectors of communities in their own health and well-being. CHL  activities are designed not only to support people to reach specific health behavior objectives, but also to engage in a process of identifying and solving problems in their communities by collaborating with other stakeholders and government bodies. The CHL approach positions health as an entry point for building civil society.

Through its affiliation with the global Health Communication Partnership, USAID’s flagship health communication  project, CHL promotes behavior change by providing communication support towards specific health outcomes under Strategic Objective 20 (SO20) of the USAID-Egypt Mission Strategic Plan, “Healthier, Planned Families. CHL’s innovative, research-based programs are designed to improve health practices across the areas of:

  • Family planning and reproductive health
  • Maternal and child health
  • Infectious diseases including HIV and AIDS
  • Healthy lifestyles

In addition, CHL seeks to strengthen the leadership, technical skills and management systems within the public, NGO, and private sectors to design and implement strategic communication programs.
